Rachel Watrous holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Utah, where she attended as a Presidential Scholar and National Merit Scholar. During her studies, she studied piano under Jeffrey Price and Bonnie Gritton, and worked extensively as a vocal accompanist in the studios of Marion Miller, MaryAnn Dresher, Cheryl Stone, and Susan Huff. Committed to ongoing pedagogical excellence, Rachel regularly participates in the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) conventions, recently completed an Intermediate Teacher Cohort with Janna Williamson and Christina Whitlock, and is currently pursuing her credentials as a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music (NCTM).
Growing up as the daughter of a piano teacher, Rachel developed an early love for the instrument and excelled in sight-reading. Her rich collaborative background includes singing in and accompanying her high school madrigals choir, performing with the University of Utah’s A Cappella Choir, and working closely with vocalists and instrumentalists alike. Today, she continues her passion for choral music as a member of the Houston Masterworks Chorus and regularly serves as a soloist and collaborative pianist in her congregation of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Rachel maintains a thriving home studio in Houston teaching students in the Tomball and CyFair school districts, offering private lessons, group classes, and diverse performance opportunities. Beyond developing strong musicality, she views piano study as a powerful vehicle for personal growth, helping her students cultivate empathy, discipline, organization, and grit.
